How we make rankings

Rankorea publishes three clearly separated ways to order a topic: official statistics, Rankorea editorial Top 5s, and visitor one-pick results. They answer different questions and are never added together.

  1. 1. Every ranking states its author and evidence

    Official-statistics rankings rework published measurements and cite their source. Rankorea editorial Top 5s name the editorial team, its selection perspective, revision, and limits. Visitor one-pick results are counts from this site's self-selected poll, not a representative survey.

  2. 2. We keep the three bases separate

    An editorial Top 5 is not an official measurement or a visitor-vote result. It can appear before a poll so there is something to read from the start, but it never changes a tally, breaks a tie, or becomes a statistic. Published topics label the panels separately.

  3. 3. Every ranking shows its work, including its limits

    Each topic links to its methodology: official sources and formulas for data rankings; selection perspective, author, revision, and limits for editorial Top 5s; and question, options, sample limits, and tally rules for visitor polls. A poll's early tally remains an early tally, even when an editorial Top 5 is available.
